How to boost your brand awareness at a corporate event

1) Understand the purpose of your event

Your first steps are to define what you are hoping to accomplish at your event. It is important for you to know the goals and objectives of your attendance at your chosen corporate event, business seminar, conference etc..

Start by questioning why you are attending this event and what are your expectations. Your motivations will determine how you can best attract the interest of your target audience.

Rather than thinking of your event as 'just a corporate event/seminar/trade show'. Think of the event as an interactive brand experience. Create an engaging stand that will leave a lasting meaningful impact.

2) Define your target audience

The success of your appearance will be determined by attracting and converting the correct type of customers. Think about who it is that you are looking for. Is it a company executive, senior management, account manager? Or are you looking to build on existing relationships or increase brand awareness with potential customers?

Regardless, what people will remember mostly is how they were treated. Every person in attendance is a potential spokesperson for your brand.

It is important to make a significant impact on your potential client's experience with your brand. Do not overlook the finer details, what is important to you and your potential clients?

3) Set a realistic budget

You need to know the size of your budget to determine what you can invest in your event.

(Top Tip: decide early on how much money you are going to spend, then add an additional 10% to your budget - there are always unexpected extras)

Once you know your budget you can allocate it to your essentials. E.g. if you spend a large portion of your budget on showcasing your product or service, you may run out of budget for your marketing campaign and promotional products.

Try thinking from the perspective of both your brand and potential customer. What would allow you to showcase your brand to allow your target audience to experience what you do? However, do take into account what is essential to your target audience. Do they want convenience, quality or low prices?

Success at any corporate event comes down to being immersive, educational and entertaining.

Our tip is to determine early what you are going to do that is 'out of the box' to stand out in your industry.

4) Establish your timeline

When it comes to organising your presence at an event, think about how much time you need to achieve everything. When it comes to promotional or printed items, there is always a lead time. Designing, signing off and printing custom-branded merchandise requires time. Work backwards from when you need items delivered, to when you need to sign-off any artwork, to when you need to have pricing by etc. And always build in some cushioning in the timeline… just in case!

(Top tip: Your budget can often determine your project's timeline. If you are working on a tighter budget our recommendation would be to give yourself more time to put together the event.)

5) Know your marketing tools

To get your company branding and your attendance at an event ‘out there’ you are going to need to put together a well-thought through marketing campaign. Aside from sharing details of the event on social media or emailing your database to say you’re attending, promotional products are a staple at events.

When used correctly, gifting branded promotional products to your audience can increase your brand awareness and grow your customer relationships. If those promotional products are taken away and used on a daily basis, your brand is in front of your customers for 8 hours a day, five days a week!

Promotional products play a key part of your branding and visibility marketing.
